Ise, Mie, Japan｜Akafuku honten

We were on our way to Ise Grand Shrine and decided to make a stop. As usual, we were glad we did. This is very popular amongst locals and you will see outlets at Okage Yokocho Ancient Street as well. Only difference? It’s quiet here. The sweets were perfect and certainly not the sickly sweet sort you get from Harajuku. I give it 11/10. Also, it’s in a quiet town which we walked around a bit.

Nice sweet Akafuku. Inside has Mochi The motchi was great tender. Whatever you order a food it will comes with green tea. The tea was nice bitter. Also I’ve got akafuku koori ( matcha shaved ice on the akafuku. That is only selling in summer. I’d like to try Zenzai next time in winter. I’ll come back when I get a time.

Lovely traditional sweet restaurant/cafe. Nice setting and decor, facing the bridge behind. The queuing system was a little confusing. One queue is for purchasing boxes of sweets as gifts and takeaway. One queue to obtain a ticket in order to queue to get a seat.
