Shizuoka, Japan｜Kobayashi

Visited on 7/28/2023. When I stayed at a hotel in Gofukumachi, I searched for a Shizuoka Oden shop and found this place. It was a Friday dive, but luckily there was only one seat available. Counter seats are the main, but there are also table seats. It was my first Shizuoka oden, and I had an image of black soup, but it was not salty, and it tasted normal. It is common to add mustard to oden, but the feature is that powder mixed with green laver and fish dressing is also served in addition to mustard. I also added mustard, but some people eat this powder alone, and I wondered if this was the essence of Shizuoka Oden. Besides oden, they also serve yakitori and fried foods. In fact, the fried horse mackerel was highly rated, so I ordered it too, and it was delicious. Beer is only a bottle without a draft mug, and there are 3 choices: Kirin Lager, Ichiban Shibori, and Super Dry. By the way, yakitori is pork, not chicken. Muroran in Hokkaido is also known for pork yakitori, but I didn't know that Shizuoka also has a pork culture. Is there any connection...

Grilled food takes a little time, but Shizuoka Oden comes out quickly. There are a lot of items on the menu, so I recommend ordering a platter. There is no price listed, but I think it's a low price. We used it with 5 people, but you need to make a reservation. As soon as it opened, it was fully booked. Next time I'd like to try it at the counter.

When I lived in Shizuoka, I used to go to this restaurant 30 years ago. This time I came back from visiting a grave, so I stopped by. Google maps says that reservations are required. This extremely popular restaurant fills up within 30 minutes of opening. My son, who is in charge of grilling, is starting to look a lot like my father. I’m glad your mom is doing well too❣️ There's also a branch in Shizuoka that holds grave visits, so I'd like to reserve seats and come with everyone.
