Our first time eating Kushikatsu (fried cutlet skewer) and am glad that we ate at Tengu. The gentleman featured in the photo is foreigner friendly and easy to converse I'm English. Very helpful in explaining how to eat Kushikatsu by dipping once into the Tonkatsu sauce (no double dipping please). The 5🌟 item that we had 3 skewers each is the beef tendon stewed to tender perfection and slathered generously with their delicious miso sauce. So beefy tasty, slightly chewy yet melting away in your mouth. Use the cabbage leaves to mop up the delicious sauce and juices on your plate, and reset your palate. We also tried the fried lotus root, mushrooms, prawns, squid, and oysters. All seafood was fresh and fried to perfection and I frankly enjoyed this more robust tasting fried food to Tempura. If you have not tried Kushikatsu, it's a must try especially in Shinsekai Osaka area where it is said to have originated.

A local spot but there was an old uncle who can communicate in english for a bit. I did my homework before visiting - translating all my order to Japanese so it was relatively smooth ordering process. The foods were amazing especially this miso skewer. I completely enjoyed my experience there.

Very tasty if not healthy! There was a bit of a line outside but they got people in quickly. It is all counter seating and the food comes out of the fryer and right to you. There is almost no English spoken but the staff were still very kind to me and let me point at what I wanted. The peppers and asparagus were extremely flavorful and the shrimp and egg were very satisfying and filling. The one non fried item appears to be tendon and or tripe slow simmered in sauce. Even though I usually find those meats chewy, this was not.
