This is a small and intimate establishment overflowing with charm and warmth. The decor is from an earlier era but it’s clean, comfortable and authentic. Everyone else dining there was local but I received a warm sincere welcome when I stepped in. None of that intimidating aura or atmosphere of exclusivity you face when walking into some of the other traditional Izakayas or kushiyaki/yakitori establishments. The genuine warmth continued throughout my visit, I was never made to feel out of place or awkward when placing orders or when I stumbled through my attempts at communicating with staff in my less than rudimentary Japanese. Truly omotenashi. There’s an English menu which helped a lot when ordering of course. The food is absolutely satisfying and delicious. Expect yourself to enjoy a hearty fare that is heartwarming and casual. This is not to suggest that the food is coarse or unexciting. The dishes I had were all expertly seasoned and prepared to enhance and bring out their natural flavors rather than overpowering them. Portions were generous and reasonably priced as well. It was honestly one of the better meals I had on my trip and I will definitely recommend this gem to anyone interested in having an honest and unpretentious meal that is absolutely delicious and authentic!

Had the chicken katsu, it was recommendable. It has nice juiciness and good flavour. Not only the chicken itself, I love the miso soup and ginger pickles. Didn't think I could finish the rice, but with all those nicely-combined varieties, I finished all of them and am full now. Will definitely go here for lunch again.
