Nagoya, Aichi, Japan｜Cafe New Poppy

I stopped here last summer while walking through the Shikemichi area. The owner was very nice and patient even with my sub-par Japanese language skills and was even able to switch over to English for part of the conversation. He explained that this cafe was named New Poppy because his parents once owned a cafe called Poppy. The building is very interesting with an older-style, tiered upstairs with a more modern seating area and bar downstairs. The coffee was very good and it looked like the owner was roasting everything in house as there was a roaster behind the bar. I will stop by again next time I am in Nagoya. New Poppy strikes a perfect balance between a kissaten and a modern cafe.

Unquestionably, nice people, fantastic baristas. I could say the best coffee shop in the area. It's made from a renovated old warehouse. Worth a look.
