The reviews you read are true, the owner is very friendly to foreigners and the explain everything clearly. Coming from Vancouver, we have tried our fair share of Michelin recommended restaurants. I believe that Takobiva would be one if they ever visited. Every single dish wowed us and it first started with their house appetizer which were the potato chips. We then moved to the tofu salad which was super refreshing in a world of a lot of salt and deep fried foods in the area. The braised pork belly was next and it was melt in your mouth goodness. The Takoyaki deserves its own paragraph cause I dare say it was the best one I’ve ever had in my life. We got the mayo one and it was so creamy with a huge chunk of tako in it. We basically licked the plate clean at the end. Yakisoba with soy was amazing. The bacon omelette was heaven. And finally the udon in soup as the finisher. Boy that soup was good. I wish we came here earlier cause this meal in Vancouver would have cost us over $160. We ended up spending $81 with a bottle of wine. #bestmealinjapan

It’s a small shop, maybe about 15-20 people but the staff are super friendly, the food was amazing, and I just thoroughly enjoyed my time here eating and drinking. There was a slight language barrier but the staff seemed to understand enough eventually and of course there is google translate. This is probably my #1 pick if you’re looking for takoyaki in Tokyo with a quaint atmosphere

Lovely takoyaki, yakisoba and tonpeiyaki (bacon egg rolls). Must try their seasonal takoyaki (they had the ones with wasabi last round, this round it was takoyaki in cheese-baked sauce). Must also try their Kakuni (slow-cooked braised pork). The boss of this place is friendly. Thank you for hosting 9 of us!
