Hiroshima, Japan｜Okonomiyaki FUJIKAWA SHOUTEN

Although the owner doesn't speak English, she is very friendly to foreigners! And Hiroshima is cheap and delicious!

Very cheap and excellent okonomoyaki. The tenant is very nice. Not sure if she can speak English, however.

An old-fashioned shop run by two aunties. The menu is simple: okonomiyaki and yakisoba, but the prices are surprisingly low. When you sit down and order, the soba noodles are grilled and seasoned on the side while the dough is grilled, then the dough, soba noodles, vegetables, squid tempura, tempura, and meat are placed in that order and then grilled. After a while, break the egg on the iron plate and use a trowel to spread it out into a circle, then place the whole thing on top of the egg. Turn over, sprinkle with sauce and green seaweed, and eat with a trowel. It was held down with a large iron plate like a weight, and was well steamed and grilled, making it soft and delicious. I was surprised that it only cost 750 yen. The shop is only open during the day, and since it opens at 1:30 p.m., the customers are mostly locals. It's not a store that people line up for, but I'm glad I went.
