Gifu, Japan｜Ankake Pasta Harahachibunme

ENGLISH REVIEW!!! This place was recommended to me by the barista of the cafe next door. I've heard of Ankake Pasta before as one of the famous Nagoya/central Japan foods. I tried it once before and didn't eat it again for a very long time. I thought it was just ok. I was impressed when I heard about a shop that specializes in Ankake Pasta. The restaurant is downstairs and you have to take off your shoes so there's a homey atmosphere. The owner is super nice and explained to me the menu in great detail. While waiting for my order, I got several servings of their All-you-can-have onion soup. It is very very good. It reminds me of a French onion soup but much lighter in texture. The ankake pasta that I got was the summer limited edition eggplants and shrimp dish. I absolutely love eggplants and shrimp so I was happy they had it on the menu. They lightly fried them and they tasted so good. The S size pasta was still a big portion. The Ankake itself, which is a boiled down sauce from many vegetables, was so good. It had a pleasant level of heart warming spiciness to it. It had a deep flavor that made me smile the whole time. If you've never had Ankake Pasta before, this is absolutely the place to try it.

While walking around Kanazono-cho, I noticed that there are almost no restaurants of this kind in Kanazono-cho, even though it is so large, so I visited this restaurant in the neighboring Kanda-cho as soon as it opened. It's in the basement, down about 10 steps. When I opened the silver door, I took off my shoes and replaced them with slippers. There, I found a small but clean and comfortable base. I ordered ankake pasta with Heineken, miracan, fried egg, and meatballs. Yeah, good. Honestly, I think it was better than the one at the famous Toyohashi restaurant. The soup with unlimited refills was also exquisitely amazing. The female staff were smiling and cheerful, and the male store owner's personality was also strangely good. That would be one of the toppings. It's free. There are many types of pasta and you can enjoy various toppings, so I definitely want to visit again. I could also use PayPay. (2023_10_04)

Located on the first basement floor, it may be difficult for first-timers to enter, but the menu signboard in front of the stairs says "OPEN". The shop staff has a nice smile and I love it. This time, I ordered Meatball Ankake Pasta L (400g). A superb pasta dish with soft-boiled fried eggs and juicy meatballs mixed with spicy bean paste (all-you-can-drink consommé soup).
