Kyoto, Japan｜Itsukichaya at Kiyomizu

This restaurant was an amazing experience. The food was delicious and felt like an adventure in itself. There were so many different aspects in the meal. The presentation was amazing and the flavour was great too. I came with two other friends, one of which had an allergy to Unagi (eel) so the staff was very accommodating and changed that to a different fish for her. The location is on the corner of two streets and is super lovely to sit in and watch the busy people walk by-especially if you are seating on the second floor. It was a lovely and quiet break in the atmosphere from walking around outside. If you’re happy paying a little extra for a super lovely experience and food, please visit Itsukichaya!

Enjoy a beautiful view of Kiyomizu while feasting on seasonal Kyoto flavors ✨ I greatly enjoyed the sashimi & crab rice bowl. We had a small accident with the egg yolk spilling onto us, but the staff was very attentive and kind about it! Thank you for a lovely meal 🥰

I had heard of the other locations at arashiyama but was worried it would be too full as I had no reservation, so I came here and was able to be seated without a problem without a reservation. It is definitely one of the pricier meals I've had in Japan but not overly expensive, particularly considering the quality of the meal! It was very good and one of the staff members explained the elements in English to me so I was able to enjoy it properly! These are set meals that change with the seasons so I would not advise this restaurant for picky eaters Most of the seats are on the second floor, be wary if you have mobility issues as the stairs are steep, but this also means you have a great view of the streets as you eat.
