Shinjuku City, Tokyo, Japan｜Tonkatsu Wako Takuan Isetan Shinjuku

We were shopping around isetan and decided to check out their dining floor. We were there 11.40ish. Most restaurants had a queue but non like this one. So we did what the masses did and decided to queue up for this tonkatsu restaurant without checking the details and waited 30 mins patiently. To our surprise, the pork and large shrimp was delicious. At the end of the meal, they will serve you a hot tea. Only tried their standard Waton pork and not the Kagoshima one but it was good enough. We also added the fried oyster.

This was the first tonkatsu we ate in Japan and it was simply phenomenal. Not oily at all, and the meat was perfectly tender. We came without a reservation and we had to wait a bit outside, but it was totally worth it. Keep in mind that the restaurant, as many in Japan, is on the last floor of a mall.

Excellent food, friendly staff and nice ambiance. Serving sizes are large and the bread crumbed batter was perfect. Also excellent for kids with a kids meal menu that includes a free toy… Well priced and highly recommended.
