This old prawn noodles shop offers a genuine taste of tradition. The prawns, with roe, are impressively large and fresh, while the soup boasts a rich and flavorful essence. A solid choice for those who appreciate classic prawn noodles done right. P.S. We ordered the $13.50 big prawn dry noodles

This famous prawn mee restaurant on East Coast Rd serves really good, delicious and authentic prawn mee that have grabbed many of our taste palates. There was a small queue before we were able to enter. There is not much waiting time after we ordered the food. The prawn mee broth is sweet, umami and savoury, goes well with the giant butterflied river prawns that are juicy and fresh, peels easily from the shell. There are the occasional pork fat cracklings which hits the spot in the soup. The noodles are a perfect match with the soup and prawns. You can top up the soup if you need at the counter. Do try the pork ribs which were super tender and flavourful. The fish cakes are decent and compliments the prawn mee. Recommended to try the sour plum or lemon drink. Priced fairly reasonable. This definitely is the most sought for prawn mee in Singapore these days.

Been eating here since I was in my 20s. This place together with a couple of others are really the institutions that brought to life prawn noodles with big prawns. But each time I come, the price seems to have gone up some more. My usual medium portion is now $9.50 as opposed to my last visit when it was $8.80. Today again I ordered pork ribs / pig tail bee hoon/ mee combination, dry with chilli sauce. Cannot help but compare with my bowl of $6.50 pork rib / pig tail noodle yesterday. This place probably has more ribs and tail. The chilli sauce also has slightly more flavour. Meat wise, both serves ribs and tail with tender meat that comes off the bone easily. The soup is equally good, it exudes lots of prawn flavour. But today I find that their ribs is slightly more dry and chewy than usual. Also must order their Ngoh Hiang. Always nice to have something to nibble on before the star, prawn noodles, arrives. Perhaps the price will reach a point when I think the value of no longer there. I hope not. But until then, I will occasionally come and support them.
