I’ve always wanted to try Don Dae Bak Korean BBQ at Downtown East since its opening. Arriving on a Wednesday evening, I was surprised to find only a few occupied tables in the restaurant. Opting for their buffet, which set me back $45.45 after taxes, I was delighted to discover they used charcoal for the BBQ. The buffet spread boasted 8 varieties of meat, including Beef, Chicken, and Pork. The assortment also featured unlimited side dishes such as beansprouts, mashed potatoes, kimchi, glass noodles, radish, and lettuce. Among these, the bean sprouts and mashed potatoes stood out as my favorites. The ambiance was clean, but I did notice that the ventilation could be improved for a more comfortable experience. On the upside, the food was fresh and impeccably marinated, delivering on flavor. The service turned out to be surprisingly efficient. Grill changes and side dish refills were executed without prompting. Although it's worth mentioning that my visit coincided with a quiet period, so I can't vouch for their efficiency during busier times. Generosity abounded in the meat portions they served, which was definitely a plus. One minor hiccup was the need to request serviettes, as they weren't automatically provided. All in all, Don Dae Bak Korean BBQ is a solid choice if you're on the hunt for a tasty Korean BBQ buffet experience under $50. While it's not a place I'd frequent too often, I'd definitely recommend it for those seeking a budget-friendly option with good flavors.

Don Dae Bak stands out as the premier Korean BBQ restaurant in Singapore, no doubt about it. We’ve sampled quite a few, and none match the rich flavors found here. The manager’s friendly and helpful service truly enhanced our experience. However, we did encounter some not-so-friendly staff and unfortunate order mix-ups. Additionally, it’s worth noting that the ventilation in the restaurant seemed quite poor. Despite this, Don Dae Bak remains a top choice for satisfying your Korean BBQ cravings.

The Korean BBQ boasts rich flavors cooked over charcoal, and the army stew stands out as one of the finest I've tasted. The assortment of side dishes is equally delightful. While service from the staff might be a tad sluggish, the owner's amiability and respect shine through. It's worth noting that the establishment could enhance its ventilation, as the pervasive smoke detracts from the ambiance. Despite this, the overall experience remains positive and definitely merits a visit.
