[Jun 2023] Back at the in-law’s favourite zichar place, since they started dining here more than 30 years ago. Westlake is widely known for their braised pork bun, which comes with perfectly braised thick pork slice (tender meat and meltilicious fats) and the fluffiest white bun/pau. Their other dishes are also worth mentioning, we esp like their fragrant yangzhou fried rice, foo yong egg with crab meat, and fried dumplings. Even their stir fried shanghai greens tasted particularly fresh and crunchy. Service is fast despite the sunday lunch crowd. Walkable distance from Farrer Road MRT. Love home cook food? Here has it! Has been here for very long. Good place for family gatherings as there are alot of big tables around. Staffs are friendly and fast in serving. Best to make reservations before dining.

The braised pork bun is really legendary - thick meat and viscous black sauce infused with garlic. The best I would say 👍👍 The Gong Bao style chicken is fantastic as the cook managed to bring out the essential gong bao taste. Sambal Kangkung is well cooked and tender. Salt & Pepper fried chicken is like home cooked fried chicken but my boys are too used to prawn paste chicken and didn't give it high ratings. Xiao long bao is dry with little soup.. maybe that's Westlake version which we find not satisfying.
