A French restaurant in a residential area, run by a very kind and friendly couple. Lovely, caring and interesting colleagues and family often take care of it. It has been more than ten years. It is especially recommended to us. This time I have the opportunity to try it. There are oil paintings at the door, which feels like an art gallery so that we thought we had gone to the wrong place. Fortunately, our lovely, interesting and caring colleagues came out to greet us. The restaurant is not big, but it is basically full on Sunday night. Except for the small table couples, there are seven people in our table and six people in the other table. It seems very popular with families. The colleague is a regular customer, so naturally he will help us order. The appetizer ordered foie gras and baked snails. The soup was French onion soup. The foie gras is a large piece, fried just right, and the apples are cut into small pieces at the bottom, which together with the lettuce on the side relieves the greasiness of the foie gras. The quality of the baked snails is also very good, especially with the pre-dinner bread. I didn't even let go of the leftover parsley, butter and garlic, and ate them all. French onion soup, the onion becomes very soft and glutinous during the stewing process, without the spicy, leaving only the sweetness. The grilled cheese covered on the top, the broth underneath and the sweetness of the onion are combined, and the taste is quite rich. For the main course, our adults ordered French confit duck leg, red wine Angus beef cheek, and Iberian pork. The duck legs are done very well, the skin is roasted crispy, like a thin crispy shell, and the duck meat underneath is tender and rotten. The red wine Angus beef cheek is also highly recommended, the beef is tasty, soft and hard. My teeth are not very good recently. Sometimes the meat is not cooked properly and I can’t chew it. The meat in this restaurant is just right. The combination of pork and mushrooms is also very good. The kids ordered fish, it was a big plate, and I didn't have the nerve to run over to take pictures, but I am determined to try it next time. The dessert apple pie is not small, and the sour apples complement each other with ice cream. At first, I was a little worried about the speed of serving food, because there were only two couples in the restaurant, and there were so many people dining, but it turned out that I was completely overwhelmed. wait. Before leaving, there were no diners in the store, and the husband and wife delivered it to the door. The husband is a chef, and he smiled happily when he heard that we liked his dishes. The wife was a little shy, so she didn’t want to be in the camera, but I felt that the two supported each other very much. Happiness, so the dishes I make must be delicious. [19 Sep 2023] bread - 9/10, very addictive. escargot - 8/10, good portabello - 8/10, very nice beef cheeks in red wine ($36) - 9/10, fantastic red wine sauce. replaced with short rib today. pork ($36) - 8/10, great mash and nice mushroom sauce. steak ($58) - 8/10, NZ Black Angus ribeye lemon tart ($12) - 6/10, not quite crunchy, the mousse wasn't fantastic apple tart ($12) - 8/10, very nice

Surprisingly good french food in a small quaint neighborhood. French onion soup was nice and cheesy and duck confit also was cooked really well. There's also a complimentary bread basket which has a just nice portion size. Other restaurants we've been too, it's either too much or too little 🤣
