Singapore｜Morinaga Izakaya Restaurant Singapore (もりなが シンガポール 居酒屋)

Small cozy izakaya! Great for drinking. They have a sake promo where a bottle cost $80 and the sake i had was really easy to drink. I like the premium sashimi platter - really fresh fatty tuna and uni! The omelette and ehire was good. The owner and staff were really friendly. Will definitely come back again!

The food here is simply awesome. Went with 3 friends and I personally enjoyed the food. Being a avid Japanese food lover, I had tried a few dishes that have never tried before and I’m happy to explore that taste! I think there’s lots of effort put into the dishes and I highly recommend this food establishment.

Posting from lunch perspective, not as izakaya drinking place. There were no other customers at 1:30pm on Wednesday, and there was a Japanese manager and local wait staff Firstly to manage your expectations, the environment is what you get in a coffeeshop, and the air conditioning in the day time is a little too weak. That being said, I was here for the food only. I ordered the grilled saba (mackerel) set, and it cost $14, with a coke at $2. The saba is cooked with either miso (sweet), or shio (salt). I chose shio The meal was very very good. The saba had a crispy skin well seasoned with salt, almost flaking off the meat. The rice was perfectly cooked, fluffy and white - in my mind, better than most Japanese restaurants I’ve visited. It came with 2 side dishes which I assume are seasonal, stir fried tomato with egg, and seasoned mush rooms. Both were good It would have been better if the meal came with soup. Honestly this place is probably about a 4.2-4.3, but I’m giving 5 stars anyway as 4 would be too harsh.
