Singapore｜Chong Qing Grilled Fish Upper Thomson

We tried the Wanzhou Old School Grilled fish and the Grandma braised meat. Both dishes super wonderful. Really nice. For the grilled fish, they pour a small glass of liquor to it and the light it up for the extra flavor. The chili that goes with the braised meat was nicely blended and really help to complement the meat and bring out the flavor without overpowering it. Nicely done!

Love this dish the first time we ate and came back for it again and again. Our 4th time here eating the same dish. The fish is fresh and plump. Big fillet and worth the price. Cleaned up the plate!

Had always ordered delivery by Deliveroo from this restaurant since it's opening. Delivered food was always piping hot & fresh (disclaimer: we're only 5mins away from restaurant). If Chinese is not your language, fret not as the restaurant manger is effectively bilingual! That's a big bonus! The taste of food is NEVER consistent though eg. the cumin mutton, spicy la la & mouth watering chicken tastes different every order, sometimes average, sometimes good. But the vegetable dishes (brocolli, dou miao, cabbage, mixed veg) were consistently delicious. The black wood ear fungus full in garlic flavour & the hot & sour stir-fried shredded potato are my favourites & goes perfectly well with rice. Personally, I felt the signature grilled fish was over grilled, a bit too dry & hard. Have tried 5 out of 7 available broth flavours: Spicy Numbing - very oily, medium was not spicy enough Hot & Sour, Fresh Chillies - not too oily, not sufficiently sour & medium was not hot nor spicy enough Pickled Cabbage - non-spicy, not sour Mushroom Herbs - non-spicy, full in mushroom flavour Only disappointment is that the menu's variety is constantly shrinking as they have been removing items so one tends to get bored with the menu after 1 or 2 orders. Was also impressed with the excellent customer service! Recently, had a dish missing & they sent it over with Grab Express so that it can be tracked too! Thank you!!!
