More Comments at Google MapI’ve never heard of Kerala until I chanced upon this restaurant. From Google I learnt that Kerala is the south western coastal region of India, hence the cuisine is like what I simply associate as southern Indian food. For example Kerala porotta is like roti prata, appam is like dosai, and curries are of the yellow color coconut milk variant. However there are differences that I found delicious and worth trying. For example the mutton stew, which was cubes of tender mutton in a Kerala style white coconut gravy. The stew tasted a little sweet, and reminded me of Thai green curry but without the spiciness. The other dish that fascinated me was the beef kizhi porotta, which was 3 layers of porotta (prata) with chunky beef curry in between layers and on top. The lot is wrapped in banana leaf and steamed together. Yummy! Finally the Malabar dum biryani was surprisingly good in spite of the lack of color. The meat was soft, the rice was aromatic, seasoned with just enough spices, and cooked to perfection - soft and fluffy without being too soggy or dry. Loved it, and highly recommended! To finish off, the place was clean and the staff attentive and friendly. I am planning to come back soon and try their other dishes.
Expected some great kerala food and got it as well. We ordered: 1. Chicken chatti parota 2. Mutton kizhi biryani 3. Mushroom kizhi parotta 4. Malabar dum biryani (vegetarian) Food was piping hot and simply chief's kiss 💯💯 Chicken, mushroom and mutton dishes were all good. The flavour of dum biryani was excellent but felt like it was missing something due to the lack of meat (inevitable of course). Would definitely come back here to try more dishes 👍👍
First trying Kerala cuisine, and the Chatti Choru was outstanding. Fish was well seasoned and fried, I love all the coconut based curries and topping. The tapioca was great too.
