BKT is a dish to remember our forefathers who labored hard and had difficulties making ends meet. Having meat was a delicacy in those days. BKT was created to extract flavors from boiling pork bones with scraps of meats on it. Today, that dish had evolved to using the best prime rib. The most popular BKT is usually a white peppery stock base. Very seldom do you find a Hokkien version that has strong herbal taste and black in color. Hence, this might not be everyone’s cup of tea. But to me, this particular store will always be special because I spent many Sunday morning here when my parents were still around. This was their favorite place. I love the robustness of the soup base, the savory leftover vegetables and braised intestines. Sadly with gout, this is not a place I can eat very often these days. It’s good to be back 😋

Anytime Hokkien Bak Kut Teh and always good. Our regular BKT and Aunty always very generous with our portions.
