Singapore｜Thunder Tea Rice (Joo Chiat Express)

This has been one of my go-to places for years to get this very special and healthy Chinese hakka preparation. The combination comes with rice, tofu, some vegetables and peanuts alongside a hot green tea based soup. This is their flagship outlet which was renovated a few years ago. What’s great is the fact that I can get a vegetarian option easily by requesting them to remove the anchovies. Must try

It’s my first time trying thunder rice and I must say I love it! Each ingredient is fresh and the tea has a very aromatic basil taste. Had it for lunch and it’s so filling and healthy. & the chili is so good, spicy and tangy, goes well with anything! Thumbs up!!! ($8.40 for this set, totally worth it!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻)

The portion was acceptable and we paid $1 more for an extra serving of vegetables. Highly recommended! Brown rice available. I have tried other thunder tea rice and as compared, the soup isn’t sweet like many others that I’ve tried. Up to personal preference! :) They prepared the food really quickly by the way~ It’s a little stuffy during humid days.
