More Comments at Google MapPlace: open-air restaurant with ample seats and specialises in seafood dishes like hotpot and Stir-fried and sambal infused seafood. There are no flies!!!! A restaurant selling seafood and yet no flies!!! Wonderful. Excellent. 1 thing that this restaurant can learn is from Ikan Bakar Perling: debone all the fish!! And it'll be perfect. The home made dipping sauce is also a wonderful sour+sweet+salty+spicy blend. Service: I MUST SAY, the waiters and waitress are VERY attentive, prompt and alert. Which is unexpected for a road side restaurant like this. They will help you cook your hotpot seafood and make sure u're satisfied with the service. Even a change in my facial expression was not missed by the waiter! 😅 Well done. Even the free refill of soup, & refill of ice in my cup were asked without even me enquiring! This has really gone way and beyond my expectations. Kudos! Food: 1. Nyonya stingray fish: it my favourite dish of the night! The combination of perfect sour, very slight spice, seasoning and all together with the char smell of being grilled in banana leave was so good that I'll come back for this alone any other day. The stingray was cooked to perfection. Verdict: 4.8/5 for taste alone. Would have been a 4.95 if the stingray was de-boned. 2. Signature flower squid in spicy sambal: the sambal was not too spicy that it overpowers the flavour. The squid was fresh and cooked to perfection. Just a touch too much of onion for me, but for onion lovers that I know, they'd die for this dish. Verdict: 4.5/5. 3. Yangtze river clear soup seafood broth: the mixture of 6 different seafood inside a single pot, left to broil and simmer over a fire in front of you, as the richness of all the ingredients are infused into the broth. Yummy...that's what I call a seafood soup for a rainy day! Verdict: 4.8/5.
It's delicious, especially the grilled fish. The grilled fish sauce is the best I've ever eaten. I personally think it's just grilled when I come again 😁 It's delicious, especially the grilled fish. Their commitment to serving fresh seafood is genuinely commendable. The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the Yangtze River Clear Soup pot, which surpassed the Heavenly Sour & Spicy Soup by a considerable margin. The Yangtze River Clear Soup pot was bursting with flavours and had a delicate balance that allowed the freshness of the ingredients to shine through. On the other hand, the Heavenly Sour & Spicy Soup left me somewhat disappointed. It tasted like a mixture of chilli powder and sour juice, which tended to overshadow the ingredients' natural flavours. It didn't quite live up to the high expectations set by the other dishes. While the signature Stingray was enjoyable, I found its portion size to be on the smaller side. This might leave those with heartier appetites wanting more. Additionally, I noticed that the restaurant didn't offer a wide variety of vegetable options, which could be a downside for those seeking a more balanced meal. One aspect that could use improvement is the parking situation, which can be quite a headache. It's worth considering alternative transportation options when planning a visit to Haixin Food.
