Muar, Johor, Malaysia｜Jie Chun Chicken Rice Ball 家春海南鸡饭粒

The taste of the white chicken (blanced and prepared), and how the rice balls are pressed, is still very traditional - the kozhabi that I remember as a kid 😊 The Muar chicken rice ball is not as popular compared to its neighbouring state, but I personally find that the Muar version is much more fragrant, home-styled, and definitely more filling! My favourite go-to place for a heart warming meal of simple yet satisfying chicken rice ball.

I was curious about this place so decided to give it a try. Busy during lunch if can come earlier before 12pm. Compared to the ones in Melaka, the price is cheap and not so commercialised/ touristy. Also the uncle chopping the chicken 🐔 really knows how to 开玩笑。 He really knows how to talk and chat with customers. I think this is a family business but not that certain. Overall I will give a full 5 for this place because of the warm hearted feeling I’ve got. The food some of you may like it some might not.

Most people only know the Ping Pong chicken rice balls in Malacca. In fact, there are also handmade traditional chicken rice balls in Muar. The chicken rice balls here are large and delicious, and the chicken is very smooth and tender. With the addition of milk, egg and dried beans, Otak and coffee, the best part is that the asam fish next door can also be called over to eat together. The boss and his wife are very enthusiastic. I definitely recommend this traditional old shop.
