One of the tastier bak kut teh around thos area that has been around for over 20 years. Portions are generous & taste consistent. Best thing to have on a rainy day as well!

On a Friday evening after work, I decided to venture away from the usual KFC that my Western food-loving children preferred and try out Restaurant Leng Kee Claypot, known for its delectable non-halal meat broth claypot soup. Located along Jalan Ipoh, just next to a KFC outlet and a stone's throw away from the famous Jalan Ipoh Tim Sum, the restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating options with temporary plastic tables and chairs. I opted for their signature non-halal meat in claypot, a dried version prepared with bak kut teh spices, darker seasonings like soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, oyster sauce, and complemented with chopped pieces of lady’s fingers (okra) and a few dried chilies to add a spicy kick. The flavors were exceptional, boasting a rich blend of Chinese herbal notes, umami goodness, savory goodness, and a hint of sweetness. This dry version offered a distinct taste compared to the soup-based bak kut teh, which usually showcases a stronger aroma of garlic and white peppercorns but lacks the umami depth that the claypot version at Leng Kee Claypot provided. Without a doubt, this is one of the best bak kut teh dishes in Kuala Lumpur. The dish also came with a bowl of bak kut teh soup, which was pleasantly fragrant and slightly thicker than the peppery Singaporean version, but what set it apart was the infusion of rich herbs and spices like garlic, cloves, cinnamon, star anise, fennel seeds, and coriander, giving it a uniquely delightful taste. I found it even better than the bak kut teh I've had in Kuala Lumpur and Klang, both renowned for this dish. Another highlight for me was the tried bean curd, also known as tau foo pok, soaked in the flavorful bak kut teh broth. Unlike the usual tau foo pok served in other places, the version here melted in my mouth, offering a remarkable textural experience. It was undoubtedly one of the best I've ever had. Overall, my food experience at Restaurant Leng Kee Claypot was exceptional. The flavors of the non-halal meat in claypot and the bak kut teh soup were simply outstanding, earning a solid 5 out of 5 rating from me. If you're a fan of Chinese cuisine, especially bak kut teh, this restaurant along Jalan Ipoh is a definite must-visit in Kuala Lumpur.

Absolutely love the BKT here. Probably the best balance in fat and lean meat. The taste of the soup is very nice, very herbal. The dry one, sauce is amazing and there’s even a bottle of it on the table for you to add more if you want. Price is typical of a BKT shop but with more value for your money. Can pay with TnG as well! Sit outside so it’s more cooling and you can have a view of klcc as well. *Pic after eating more than half. Was to busy enjoying the food to take photos haha
