Singapore｜Gen Shu Mei Shi Shi Jia (根叔美食世家)

This super popular stall opens at 6am and most stuff are sold out by mid morning. So one weekday my hubby n I managed to go there for early lunch, still they were about to close! We only had three items of which the 梅菜扣肉饭 was super yummy. The lo mai kai also very flavourful though appeared humble! I really wanted to try their porridge so my hubby went back another day to get it for me. I forgot to take pics Cos it was too good to wait for a pic. Its thickness was just nice n lots of liao. Can tell it was 熬 for a long time. It gave me much desire n motivation to go back in the early morning to try other types of porridge n other items. Btw we didn’t see the “legendary” uncle gen shu chef as featured on most social media posts. Only three young chefs working. They were very hard working n i was impressed n encouraged that younger generation is taking over. Btw the chee Chong fun was so so only. Tasted like over-steamed n not that smooth nor silky.

Excellent morning breakfast! I’ve not visited in years but the quality still has not dropped! The glutinous rice remains a favourite of mine, and tasty porridge is not to be missed. The portions are generous and much larger than what you would get from other dim sum restaurants. There is a queue but it moves quickly.
