Singapore｜Unforgettable Carrot Cake 忘不了萝卜糕

Nice carrot cake that seem to be stronger at black than white version (or at least, that’s what the cook recommended). The kway is soft but has a firm exterior, making it a perfect vehicle for the black sauce. Chili is mixed in at just the right quantity to make this a wonderfully balanced sweet and spicy dish that speaks of the cook’s experience (many of the black version is more sweet than spicy, or the other way around). Plenty of eggs, too.

A very competent plate of carrot cake. I ordered the $4 portion of black carrot cake with chilli. The carrot cake was soft and contrasted the eggy bits and chye poh nicely. Heat from the chilli was just right and some bits had a slight char and hint of wok hei. Auntie was friendly and called me 帅哥.

Ordered the white version of the fried carrot cake. It was good, not overly oily. Updated on 7 July 2023: Today, I ordered the black version. It was fine but compared to the white version I had previously, I think the white version is far better.
