Singapore｜Hong Ji Mian Shi Jia

Been patronising this wonton mee stall for ages and 1st gen uncle/aunty has more or less retired (though many commented attitude of stall owners but they are generally very nice. Speaks loudly because the uncle has hearing problem dont mistake as they are shouting at you or so) and 2nd gen family member took over to run the stall. Used to only closed on Friday and noted when asked nowadays closed on Thurs/Fri. Its a wonton mee with old school chilli paste and its the noodles and charred char siew type that makes the whole palate complete. Soup has 扁鱼taste so goes very well. Pork lard are fried by themselves and a must have to add as condiments. Prices have increased as per any other hawker stall so i usually ordered extra noodles just to make up the craving.

Wanton mee is a relatively simple dish but very difficult to get it all right. This is one of the few and my favourite. Perfect chilli base and sweet black sauce, qq egg noodle, roasted char siew, savoury soup (ikan bilis stock) and meaty wantons. Hard to beat.

One of the best wanton I've ever had! The noodles, wanton, sui gao and the chilli sauce combination of everything tastes so nostalgic! Highly recommended!.
