I must say I was very impressed with the satay. I have not had satay ever since I stopped taking meat many years ago.. and for someone who doesn't like mock meat, I was apprehensive and felt a little repulsive that the satay might taste like mock meat however when I had the first bite, "Wow.." was my first reaction. It doesn't taste like mock meat! The satay was chunky and it smells good as well as tasty. The satay sauce was a good accompaniment too! However, the satay was a bit pricey.. $10 for 10 sticks and they don't have ketupat. I can never understand why vegetarian is always more pricey than normal food.. Well.. I would come back for the satay again but probably not often due to the price and accessibility for me; and I would probably try the other stuff in the menu too.

I was usually skeptical when people said that this vegetarian food tasted just like the real thing but Victor Veggie's vegetarian satay really won me over. Unlike some establishments which used lion mane mushrooms to replace the meat of the satay, Victor Veggie used its own secret receipt to make soy-based "meat" which were about 70% close to real meat. What enhanced the dish was 1. the BBQ skills giving each stick of satay a nice aroma and 2. the satay sauce which was among the nicer ones i had tasted. In fact, our dad liked it so much that we went back again when he requested 😄 One of many vegetarian stalls at Circuit Road Hawker Center, this place is a godsend for vegetarians 🙂

The smokiness, texture and appearance of the vegetarian chicken satay is 7/10. It could have been mistaken as real chicken satay. The Satay sauce goes really well with the meat too. Try the otar too ! Amazing skill
