Singapore｜Ma Li Ya Virgin Chicken 瑪莉亞處女雞

I have read so much about Ma Li Ya Soy Sauce Chicken for a very long time. And finally I got to try it. In short, I'm blown away! I arrived at about 10am. I was surprised to find just one customer ahead of me. After I placed my order, I realized that a line of more than 10 customers were behind me. I ordered the bigger bird (the small chicken is really tiny, maybe just good for 2, max 3 people), 3 silken soy tofu and 10 fragrant rice. They asked if I wanted to try the soy fatty pork but I declined. In hindsight, I should have ordered it. Got home and started unpacking. The chicken was split into 2 separate containers. Tofu was in a 3rd container. Included were 2 fragrant soy sauces for the chicken, 3 garlic chilli sauces and 1 bag of sauce for the rice. I'm a chicken rice fanatic and I always check the rice out first before the chicken, cos chicken is easy to replicate but not the fragrant rice. I am happy to report that their rice is super yummy! I always say that if the rice is good, half the battle is won. Their rice is more grainy as compared to like Lee Fun Nam Kee, which is what I really like. The only thing I have to highlight to other first time diners is that the rice portion is really really tiny. Thank goodness I ordered 10 packets of rice, since insufficient and we had to ration it at home. So make sure you order extra rice if you are taking out. Now to the chicken. I love it! It is very tender, and the soy seasoning is towards the sweeter side, which is really pleasant. Their soy silken tofu is pretty good as well. Overall, the recommendations from the other diners were accurate. I highly recommend this place too. Will 300% be back again, and definitely will be trying their fatty pork. But they only open on limited days of the week so better check before heading out there. Oh by the way, they are also hard to find cos there's like over 200 stalls at Chinatown Complex. Best soy sauce chicken in town! You need to get the soy sauce chicken with noodles and a side of broth. It’ll blow you away! Google say they open at 10:30am, but he’s there as early as 8:00am. Get there early so they don’t run out of the soy sauce chicken. Even the free broth is delicious and the owner is super friendly and will chat with you if you let him know you came from far away to try his food.

One of the best soya sauce chicken in town. The braised sauce is tasty and full of flavor. The chili sauce is nice as well. Its served over chicken rice rice. The $6 "3 combo set" is also worth it. Great stuff.
