More Comments at Google MapI got to know of this place thru a Neighbour who in turn saw a post by the daughter of the Chicken Rice stall owner who sought assistance in a SG Hawker FB Group. Due to the Heightened Alert Phase, their business was badly affected. It turns out, this quiet little Coffee-Shop located in a very quiet neighborhood really was a Hidden Gem! 3 Stalls in particular stood out to me the most. 1) Ya Zai Chicken Rice This was the original stall that I sought out, and I must say I am impressed with the Old-School taste of their Chicken Rice with a very Nice Classic and Nostalgic 麻油香味. From what I understand, this was one of the first stalls that started when the Coffee-Shop first opened, and as such it has at least 20 years of history now. 2) 630 Woodlands Econ Bee Hoon Owned by an Elderly Couple. While their signage suggests that Economy Beehoon is their Main Offering, the dish that stood out to me instead was their Hokkien Mee. Texture-wise, its the Wetter Version. Prawns are Fat and Juicy and the overall dish just tasted really good and satisfying. (Note: This stall have quite irregular opening and closing times. Sometimes they're closed for the Weekends too) 3) Fried Kway Teow Run by a Chinese PRC couple. Despite that, the Chap who runs this surprisingly fries up a very good tasting unmistakeably SG-Styled plate of CKT. Plenty of Wok Hei with a Fantastic Aroma and especially Delicious when its served piping hot. This stall also sells Fried Lao Shu Fen (炒老鼠粉) which is quite rare to find in a HDB Coffee-Shop. So Yeah. Don't just queue for those food stalls with the longest queues. Give other stalls a chance and give them a try too! Who knows, you might just discover a Hidden Gem or in this case, 3 Hidden Gems!
The food here generally better than I expected . Lao Shu fun is indeed very difficult to find at Singapore yet there is a stall selling it , hence I tried the Lao Shu fun . The food really taste great, with broth that is not too savoury . Hokkien mee for me is ok , as I have tasted better. For oyster omelette and char kway teow, they both taste fantastic, not oily and not salty. The food presentation is freaking neat and pleasant. I have patronised this stall 3 times ! Tze car for this sambal petai rice is not that nice, overpowering belacan taste.
This is my go to place whenever I’m around the area. I love the local delights fried bee Hoon. Generous portion and fried well with wok hey.
