An exclusively halal coffee shop, with a modernized concept that offers lots of variety - most of the stalls also offer mod takes on local fare. Tried the oyster omelette, satay, and sambal seafood fried rice - generally the portions were generous for their prices. Worth mentioning was the 'Volcano Ayam' from the Mee Bagus stall, a modern take on Mee Kia that resulted from a collaboration with local chef Daniel Tay. Apparently inspired by ramen, the broth was a spicy miso & dried shrimp ('haebi-hiam') base that was flavourful and well balanced, complete with a generous serving of mushrooms, chicken slices and meat ball. Overall I enjoyed the dish, especially with the springy Mee Kia noodles. Would have preferred for the dish to be more spicy, or at least for us to be able to add more chilli paste to it. Perhaps the dish also deserves more spring onions to add freshness as counterpoint.
This coffee shop embodies the modern interpretation of traditional food offerings. The interior styling reminds me of Funan mall, just that it is in a neighbourhood district, under a HDB block in Clementi. The hawker food and drinks served here are really excellent and not too expensive. A real bang-for-buck! Highly recommend the nasi goreng seafood wrapped in banana leaf, as well as the mutton satay.
