Singapore｜Shanghai Fried Xiao Long Bao

Price: 3 for $4.00 (Sheng Jian Bao 生煎包) Sheng Jian Bao is literally a gyoza/pot sticker but a bun. The dish is mostly associated to have originated from Suzhou and Shanghai. The bun is first pan fried so that the bottom is crispy before the rest of the cooking is done through steaming to cook the bun. The end product is a juicy meat bun that has a soft exterior while still having the crispy bottom. Not as well known as the xiao long bao (soup dumpling) but equally delicious as well! Do give it a try if you are in the area!

Wow, best fried xiao long baos ever! My family loved the prawns ones especially! The Zha Jiang mian is slightly above average for the cost. The prawn dumplings and normal Xiao long baos are abit of a letdown. But true to the shop’s name and title, their fried xiao long baos are amazing! Kudos! 👍🏻

Surprisingly, the 生煎 was really good. The skin was not too thick, and meat was juicy and savoury!
