Top place for sichuan cuisine. Their food presentation is superb and the taste is even better! Ordered the set lunch menu and will try other dishes next time.

Mainland Chinese restaurants were once a hit or miss affair, but for sure, Kuan Zhai has elevated the Chinese fine dining experience. The food was well thought out, with chefs trained in all parts of China to bring forth the most creative Chinese dishes. There was a myriad of flavours, from the delicately clear amber coloured morel cordyceps and tofu soup, to the fiery Chong Qing Popcorn Chicken that kicks a storm in your tastebuds but not that hot to blow your head off. The piece de resistance was the lychee shrimp. Balls of crimson, pink and yellow puffed rice coating one fresh shrimp, deep fried and hung up on a faux pengzhai plant. The cocktails were immaculate. Go for the smoked umeshu. Cleanses the palette after each course. The decor was a curious blend of Gilded Age China and Chinese Technopunk, where the 20s meet the 20s. Service was top notch. I came here to celebrate my anniversary with my wife. Would I return? Only with more guests,

Fine dining with Sichuan cuisines! Super impressed with their creative and beautiful plating and good services! (We saw many other beautiful plating on other tables.) Prices are on the pricey side, but it comes with free flow of Pu'er or crysanthmum tea, and wet towels are not chargeable. Lovely ambience but I felt the aircon can be colder as I felt it was quite stuffy.
